David Umamoto's Circonvolution staircases lead to the void, the walls rise to nothingness, the ceilings seem useless. From these works emanates a certain mystery that stimulates the imagination, and provides a sense of accomplished discipline. His most recent works are studies in volume, moving in the twilight zone between sculpture and architecture.
