Kura is the Japanese word for repository, a name given to this pad, created in collaboration with Isabelle Yamamoto. Rooted in the philosophy behind her work, Kura is a set of cushions and a flat mattress conceived for our Repositorium Collection. Her interpretation of a zabuton - a traditional Japanese floor cushion typically used for sitting or meditation -complete with a mattress-like structure, brings a quiet presence and an atmosphere of grounded stillness. Carefully crafted using handpicked ancient fabrics, the piece reflects our commitment to heritage and the preservation of traditional values. The textiles, sourced from various regions across Europe and beyond, carry stories of time and place, woven into each layered thread. The result is an object that is both functional and contemplative, honouring the spirit of the zabuton while aligning with the ethos of the Repositorium.
