Atl means water in Nahuatl, the language of the Aztec people. This piece serves as a vase and is made out of volcanic stone and black clay. Its simple shape is inspired by pre-Hispanic decorative stonework from Jalisco, Mexico. This collection of vessels combines the natural materials of stone and clay hosting plants and water in order to explore the connections between these two natural elements. This mimic combination of natural materials in the Mexican countryside also refers to the roles of different vessels used on an everyday basis of the prehispanic people, some humble and ordinary domestic objects with a tactile and visible connection with their land.
