Thrones have been a symbol of power, authority, and dignity since ancient times. The design of the Parabola chair pays homage to this regal heritage with its curvaceous backrest, featuring an elegant juxtaposition of solid wood and open, empty space. ÆTHER/MASS is always eager for collaborations that enable them to access new skills and broaden their range of possibilities. For this project, they collaborated with Casimir Ateliers, a master cabinetmaker known for creating exquisite solid wood pieces of furniture. Belgian designer Davy Grosemans is behind the brand, each piece of his collection serves as an exploration of new and uncharted processes, materials and production techniques. Repeated experiments are performed to redefine the meaning and essence of an object.The objects are tangible outcomes of the studio’s exploration into myriad materials, processes and craftsmanship techniques.
