The Norma XL Sculpture is the result of extensive research into the unique characteristics of Yellow Pine. Crafted from elliptical forms meticulously sawn against the grain, the piece highlights the striking interplay between the flaming patterns of plain-sawn wood and the linear textures of quarter-sawn cuts.
The traditional Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban-a controlled charring method-enhances Yellow Pine’s natural contrast between soft spring wood and denser summer growth, creating a richly textured surface with subtle tones of brown, black, and gold. Designed to be viewed from every angle, each side reveals a new composition and evokes a different emotional response. Norma XL is not just seen, it is experienced.
